Apple Butter Festival 2024 Guide

Welcome to the 49th Apple Butter Festival in Berkeley Springs, WV!

This upcoming Saturday, our charming town comes alive with the sights, sounds, and smells of this beloved tradition. Below is everything you need to know to make the most of your visit.

Festival Dates:
Saturday, October 12: 10:15 a.m. to 4 p.m.
— Parade starts at 9 a.m.
Sunday, October 13: 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. Is there street parking?
    • Street parking is available; however, spaces tend to fill up quickly, so we recommend arriving early. In addition, there are designated parking lots within walking distance of the festival. Larger parking areas, such as the Food Lion parking lot, are also available, though they may require a longer walk. Additionally, private lots in town and some managed by local non-profits will be accessible for parking.

  2. Will there be a shuttles?
    • There will be shuttles with three different routes to and from the festival. Some of the pickup locations are below.
      • Route 1: Senior Life Services Parking Lot (Directions)
      • Route 2: Gat Creek Parking Lot (Directions)
      • Route 2: 522 Ball Field Complex Parking Lot
      • Route 2: Cool Font Resort Parking Lot
      • Route 3: Warm Springs Middle School Parking Lot (Directions)
    • There will be festival drop off and pickup for the following shuttle hours.
      • Saturday, October 12 hours: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
      • Sunday, October 13 hours: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Downtown Pickup and drop off stop will be at the Corner of Fairfax & Mercer St for all three routes.
    • You can view the PDF which has more specific information on pickup, routes, locations, route images, etc.
    • There is no fixed schedule (e.g., every 30 minutes) due to traffic delays, but they will continue to operate continuously.
    • Shuttles are free
    • Free Shuttles are sponsored by West Virginia American Water, West Virginia Virtual Academy and WVU Medicine.

  3. Will there be Wheelchair accessible Shuttles available?
    • Yes there will

  4. Is there an entrance fee?
    • No, the festival is free to attend! However, certain activities and food vendors may have costs associated.

  5. Are pets allowed?
    • Yes, pets are welcome as long as they are on a leash. Be mindful of crowds and noise if your pet is easily startled.

  6. What are the festival hours?
    • The festival runs from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We suggest arriving early to enjoy all the activities.

  7. Are there restrooms available?
    • Yes at local business and there are may have portable restrooms

  8. Is the event accessible?
    • We strive to make the festival accessible to all. There are accessible restrooms and parking spaces available, and all activities are on level ground.

  9. Can I buy apple butter and other goods to take home?
    • Absolutely! Many vendors sell jars of apple butter and other local products for you to purchase.

  10. Will there be events after 4 p.m.?
  11. Are there any events before the festival?
    • Friday night join them for their second Beer Garden Party!  Food trucks and the Apple Butter Festival Craft Beer and WV Wine & Spirits Garden will make for a great party!

  12. Where is the location of the festival ?
    • It’s in downtown Berkeley Springs, but for GPS, you can use Berkeley Springs Park at 2 S Washington St, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411 to get exact directions to it.

  13. What payment methods do vendors accept?
    • Most vendors accept cash, and nearly all accept credit/debit cards.

  14. Are there any restrictions on photography or videography?
    • Photography and videography for personal use are welcome. However, please respect performers and vendors who may prefer not to be filmed.

  15. How many vendors/live entertainments/contests will be there?
    • There will be over 200 vendors, live entertainments and contests.

  16. Is it too late to become a Vendor?
    • Not sure but I would contact Shayna Shapiro shayna@g4dproductions.com who is the vendor contractor.

  17. Can I become a volunteer at the Event?
    • From the Berkeley Springs Chamber site:
      They need people to show off our quilt and sell raffle tickets, give out maps and point people in the right direction. We need people to work in the beer garden – and yes, it’s exactly as terrific as it sounds! We’d love to have you join us as a volunteer.   18. When is next year’s festival?
    • I know it’s too early to plan, but next year event will be on October 10, 11 and 12, 2025. It will be 3 days instead of two days like this year.

  • How is the Weather?
    The weather will be perfect, with temperatures ranging from the low 50s to high 70s and plenty of sunshine both days—so nice that even the apples are thinking about turning into apple butter early!
